Hair Removal
How does it work?
It transports heat energy through the skin to the protein (chromophore) in the melanin down to the hair follicle. Using the In-Motion technology, the hand piece or applicator is repeatedly moved across the treatment area using a rolling technique to gently warm the treatment area combined with concurrent cooling of the skin’s surface. Consequently, providing a gradual thermal rise or longer heating process that effectively prevents the hair follicles re-growth, while avoiding injury to the surrounding tissue. This process ensures full coverage while preventing superficial burns and allowing for virtually painless, yet highly effective hair removal.
How Is This Different To Traditional IPL or Laser?
In comparison to traditional laser and IPL methods, our new generation lasers provides faster, safer and pain free hair removal for clients with very minimal side effects. Other laser techniques use massive amounts of heat and require multiple generalized laser shots to the skin to destroy hair follicles. As a result, increasing discomfort and side effects.
Why Do I Need More Than One Treatment?
Treatments are mostly effective when the hair is at the active stage (Anagen phase) in the growth cycle. Some hair follicles can lay dormant and not all hair is at the same phase of the growth cycle at the same time. It can take 10 to 21 days after the procedure for the treated hair to fall out. Since hair growth cycles vary it is recommended that 6-8 treatments at 4 weekly intervals will provide the best result. Hair in some areas, such as facial hair grows faster than other areas. So, treatment intervals can vary in such cases. Other considerations requiring extra or ‘top up’ treatments include hairs that lay dormant; some leg hairs can be dormant for 24 weeks, and hormonal changes can stimulate hair growth.
What Are the Risks or Side Effects?
- It is normal if your skin feels warm, similar to a mild sunburn, and for the treated area to remain pink for 2-3 hours. In some people this subsides in a matter of hours or could last for a few days and present like a sunburn.
- A light crusting or stubble may be experienced, which vanishes after 2-3 weeks.
- Blistering is a very small risk that may occur and may take several days to heal.
- Alteration in skin pigment is a very rare risk that may occur. In the rare event that this does occur it disappears after 4-6 months.
- There is no ‘downtime’ or recovery time required.
- After hair removal treatment your skin is more susceptible to sunburn and sun damage, which can effect how you respond to the treatment, damage your skin, alter the skins pigment and increase likelihood of blistering.
- To minimize risks of side effects you must provide accurate information and comply with the pre and post treatment instructions

Tattoo Removal
Is Laser Tattoo Removal safe?
Laser tattoo removal is the safest, most efficient and effective way to remove a tattoo. At Optimum Men’s health clinic, your laser tattoo removal is performed by an experienced technician, who is invested in maintaining skin health and integrity, and is a fully qualified licensee and certified to own and possess a Medical Grade 4 Laser for Tattoo Removal. This is important to check before undergoing any treatment.
Optimum Men’s health clinic uses TGA approved and is a high-powered Class 4 laser. Able to remove a tattoo containing black, green, blue, yellow, red and brown colours of ink. It is important to note that this is not IPL.
How does it work?
Laser tattoo removal is a treatment that involves using a laser which emits ultra-short pulses of light energy, which pass through the skin and is rapidly absorbed by the targeted tattoo ink. This causes the tattoo ink particles to fragment into smaller pieces. Once the laser has broken up the ink particles, the fade of the tattoo can start. This is because the body’s healing response disposes of the fragmented tattoo ink via the body’s immune system, through skin cell migration, and the body’s natural waste system. It is important to understand that fading of the tattoo can take multiple sessions and is not only determined by the way in which the body disposes of the ink, which can vary between individuals and skin tone. It is also determined by various tattoo characteristics; such as the ink type and quality that was used, the skill, depth and layers of tattoo placement by the tattoo artist, the tattoo age/size/location.
With this in mind the speed at which the laser emits a pulse is of little (nanosecond vs picosecond). The key factors are:
- the depth of the laser setting for effective tattoo removal are set accordingly
- the person’s immune system is up to the challenge
- that a minimum of 4-6 weeks is allowed between treatments to support healing and the immune system in removal of the tattoo’s fragmented ink.
What about scarring?
You have to remember that you already have a scar tissue and skin texture changes where your tattoo is. When your tattoo was created needles penetrated your skin anywhere from up to 50 to 10,000 times forming a dermal scar in the creation of your tattoo. This scarring may appear once the ink is removed from your skin. Scarring from tattoo removal may occur if scabbing or infection occurs after a tattoo removal treatment. So it is important not to pick scabs and to keep the site dry and clean. Because at Optimum Men’s health clinic your tattoo removal will be done by and experienced Registered Nurse, a variety of techniques can be used upon a skin assessment to maintain optimal skin health and integrity.
What is the minimum amount of time between treatments?
A minimum of 4-6 weeks is allowed between treatments to support healing and the immune system in removal of the tattoo’s fragmented ink.
Does it hurt?
People have likened the experience to getting multiple fast flicks from a rubber band or hot fat splatter. It is also important to remember that people’s pain thresholds vary. Pain management for during and after the treatment will be discussed upon initial consultation and each treatment.

PRP - Platelet Rich Plasma
Why Platelets and Plasma?
Plasma is full of minerals, proteins, platelets, stem cells and white blood cells, which are elements that slow as we age. A key ingredient in this treatment are the platelets which when activated, in this case through injection, release growth factors that stimulate collagen and elastin and in turn improve blood supply. An overall benefit for your skin and any target areas for treatment.
Collagen is an important component to skin and connective tissue health as it provides structure, elasticity and moisture. In other words it keeps our skin youthful and glowing.
What does a PRP treatment entail?
After PRP is determined to be right for you, some blood will be taken from your arm and spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma and platelets. Your treatment area will be numbed for your comfort and aseptically cleaned to minimise the risk of infection. Once you are all ready, the PRP can be directly injected into your target areas using a needle or cannula, as well as micro-needled generally into the skin’s dermal layer of the treatment area/s.
You may be marked for the first 24 hours and sometimes it may take a week for things to settle but you will still be able to go about life as you do.
When will I see results?
You will start to see improvements that show around 3 weeks and improve up to 12 weeks and will last up to 18-24 months, but you will feel the improvements before 3 weeks.
How many treatments do I need?
This is dependent on assessment, the individual, treatment purpose, age and goal. For tired aged skin, it is generally recommended to have 3 treatments about 4-6 weeks apart. Hair rejuvenation it is generally recommended to have an initial series of 5 treatments about 2-3 weeks apart.
What does it treat?
It is nicknamed “Liquid Gold” treatment, as it addresses:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Areas needing some volume
- Suitable for around the eyes
- Dull, tired skin
- Photodamaged skin – sun and laser.
- Neck and décolletage
- ‘Smokers lines’ around the mouth
- Scars/acne scars
- Stretch marks
- Hands
- Hair loss – Yes – that’s right hair regrowth _ PRP not only stimulates inactive hair follicles ut also improves blood supply. Studies show that patients see just over a 30% increase in hair growth in 3 months as compared to those who don’t have PRP treatments and continue to experience an increase in hair loss.
Can I have PRP and is it safe?
Since the PRP used is your (patient’s) own blood, the risk of disease transmission, allergic reaction, toxicity or rejection are avoided. Some side effects may include: Redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness or mild discomfort.
Treatment is not recommended if you:
- suffering from any skin infection in or near the treatment area or are unwell in any way (even a cold).
- have previously experienced allergic reactions to any dermal filler or local anaesthetic
- are taking any medicines which affect bleeding, such as aspirin or warfarin. If you are taking steroids or have autoimmune disease
- have any bleeding disorders
- are undergoing chemotherapy
- suffer from a poorly controlled medical condition
- are pregnant or breastfeeding

Threads
What are Bio Threads?
Bio-Threads are used for the lifting of soft, sagging facial tissue. They are also used for skin rejuvenation and as a wrinkle treatment. Once inserted, Bio-Threads will be absorbed by the body over time, typically around 6 to 8 months. Due to increased collagen production, results can last up to 12 to 24 months. As the suture absorbs in the body, it promotes the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. Using a non-incision method via a needle or cannula, the Bio-Threads procedure is minimally invasive and generally has a fast recovery time.
Treatment Areas:
- Forehead lines
- Brow/Fox-Eye Lift
- Crow's Feet
- Tear troughs & Under-Eyes
- Nose Lift / Rhinoplasty
- Upper and Lower Cheeks
- Sagging Jowls
- Jawline
- Marionette Lines
- Nasolabial folds
- Double Chin
- Neck lines
How do they Work?
By stimulating the body's natural immune response, Bio-Threads promote the production of collagen, resulting in improved skin texture and rejuvenation. This can help to improve the appearance of fines lines and wrinkles, and achieve an anti-aging effect. Once inserted, Bio-Threads will be absorbed by the body over time, typically around 6 to 8 months. The material will completely dissolve via hydrolysis, with the end products being H2O and CO2. However, due to increased collagen production, results can last up to 12 to 24 months.
What are the different types of Threads?
Mint Mono Threads: include small, smooth PDO Threads (e.g. Mono Threads), designed to stimulate collagen production in areas with fine lines and wrinkles.
Volume Threads: are smooth and thick, and designed to add structure and volume to areas such as the jawline.
Mint Lift Threads: Barbed threads are designed to hook to the skin and lift the jowls, neck, eyebrow and nose.
How long do results last?
Bio-Threads typically dissolve in 6 to 8 months, with results lasting up to 12 to 24 months. For Rejuvenating Bio-Threads, results begin to be seen after roughly 6 weeks. These results usually continue to improve for up to 12 months, due to the gradual production of collagen that occurs over this time. For Volumising and Lifting Bio-Threads, results should be evident immediately following the procedure. This effect will begin to settle and even improve overtime, as the Threads dissolve and collagen is produced.
What are the possible side effects?
Some side effects can occur, such as: bruising, swelling, headache, pain, superficial displacement and skin dimpling. These side effects tend to naturally heal over time (typically resolving within 2 weeks) or can be addressed with a secondary treatment. In rare cases, side effects such as infection, hematoma, muscle dysfunction, skin necrosis and unilateral paresthesia can occur. This device is prohibited to use on patients who have Diabetes with complications of Dermal necrosis.

Hair Loss Rejuvenation (PRP)
What is PRP?
Visit our PRP service page for more info HERE
What Causes Hair Loss?
Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) or ‘male-pattern baldness’ is a common form of hair loss affecting up to 50% of men by age 50 and nearly 50% of women (female-pattern hair loss) over the course of their lifetime. The causes for hair loss are complex, and a review by a GP or Dermatologist to exclude metabolic causes is the best first step. Once nutritional deficiencies and metabolic function have been checked, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has been proven by numerous high level research studies to reverse hair loss and improve hair number and overall skin and hair health.
How does the Treatment Work?
PRP involves the collection of a small volume of the patient’s blood, processing of the blood at the time of the procedure at the patient’s side to collect a high concentration of platelets in a small volume of plasma (platelet-rich plasma), and then injection of the PRP into the patient’s scalp where hair rejuvenation is needed using superfine needles. The basic science behind PRP injections is that the patient’s own platelets deliver an abundance of growth factors to the skin on the scalp to stimulate hair regrowth. PRP therapy has shown remarkable beneficial effects with no major adverse reactions or harmful side effects and is considered to be a very safe medical procedure.

Intravenous micronutrient therapy
What are IV Infusions?
Several factors affect our body’s ability to absorb nutrients in the stomach, these include (but not limited to) age, metabolism, health status, genetics, interactions with other products we consume, and the physical and chemical makeup of the nutritional supplement or food.
IV micronutrient therapy supplies the body with key electrolytes, vitamins and antioxidants to be absorbed quickly and directly into the bloodstream; a method that produces higher levels of the vitamins and minerals in your body than if you got them from food or supplements. These include:
- Thiamine
- Ribotlavin
- Niacinamide
- Dexpanthenol
- Pyridoxine
- Cyanocobalamin
- Vitamin C
- Magnesium
- Calcium
- Folic Acid
- Zinc
- Glutathione
- Alpha Lipoic Acid
IV micronutrient infusions may lead to greater uptake into cells providing nutrients to maintain health, fight illness and may improve symptoms and issues such as:
- Wellbeing
- Tiredness
- Mood
- Antiaging
- Focus
- Recovery
- Detox
- Cold and Flu Season
What are in our IV infusions?
Whilst IV infusions contain many essential vitamins and nutrients, there are some real superheroes amongst the pack!
Glutathione
Glutathione is a substance produced naturally by the liver and is stored in your cells to produce important amino acids. Glutathione is involved in many processes in the body, including tissue building and repair, making chemicals and proteins needed in the body, and for the immune system, and detoxifying chemicals, pollutants and drugs. Glutathione is an important antioxidant in your body that helps combat free radicals; molecules that can damage your body's cells. Glutathione plays a role in many chemical reactions in your body. Your supply of glutathione decreases as you get older, and in certain situations (like stress) your body can’t produce enough. Lower glutathione levels go hand-in-hand with poorer health.
B Complex
B Complex contains:
- B1 – Thiamine hydrochloride
- B2 – Riboflavin sodium phosphate
- B3 – Nicotinamide
- B5 – Dexpanthenol
- B6 – Pyridoxine hydrochloride
Benefits may include:
- Improved liver function.
- Increases red blood cell production, reducing the chance of anemia.
- Protects nerves by stimulating myelin production.
- Helps to produce serotonin, one of the “feel good” chemicals in the brain.
- Stress reduction.
- Lowering the levels of bad cholesterol in your body.
- Treat acne when used topically, injected or ingested.
- Preventing the early onset of heart disease.
- Allergy prevention.
- Hypothyroid support.

Vitamin C
Vitamin C is an essential nutrient that promotes wound healing, immune health, and a healthy cardiovascular system. It's also been shown to help with:
- building collagen, which keeps your skin healthy and youthful
- fighting free radicals
- aiding in iron absorption
Our bodies do not produce vitamin C, so we have to get it from other ways such as diet or through IV. Vitamin C has 100% bioavailability when administered by IV infusion!
